Ketulahan for me

May 4, 2008

Ketulahan is perfectly the right word for me.

I have given BAD and MEAN critics to few of my lecturers ESPECIALLY to my Manufacturing Technology lecturer, Dr. Ing Yupiter Manurung. So far, he is the only catholic lecturer that I know in UiTM, particularly in my faculty. Since we share the same belief, I should have had a good student-and-lecturer relationship with him. Instead, I insulted him, but of course behind his back. I talked and circulated bad stuff about him.

BAD attitude, I know but let me finish first. =(

Whenever a person asks who my manufacturing lecturer is, I straight away say YUPITER. First, I was being rude. Second, I gave bad impression for him to my other course mates from other classes. I told them that Mr. Yupiter is lame. Lame as in he couldn’t care less about his students, all he did during lectures was pressing the button “space” attached on his notebook, showing some boring clips and telling some stupid jokes. Not to mention his outrageous “TESTS”. He gave unexpected questions. Questions on topics that we did not learn or more or less he just went through the topics without stressing or giving any remarks that they were important. I had no idea how the questions were going to be like.

So then I assumed I failed in both tests which carried 20% of the final exams. And for these, I hated him.

Hate destroys a person’s soul. Yeah, that is so true..

But then I realized, even if he teaches that way, I should have gone to his room and consult with him regarding to my predicament. I should have work things out correctly. During the study week, I accompanied a friend of mine to see him at his room. I never knew that he was actually helpful coz he was trying to help us regarding to the subject.

At the end of the day, I can say that I could finally get the beat of the learning process. After sitting for the paper on 30th may, I felt quite relieved and I have targeted at least a B for the paper. (after considering or assuming that I failed in both test) . Nevertheless, my dream was dashed when my friend told me that I got 16 out of 40 for my carry mark..

I was utterly speechless when she (my female friend) told me the news. I think to myself. This is what they call   “ ketulahan”.. This is the first and the last time, (I hope) I’ve gotten such low and pathetic carry mark.

P/s: Ketulahan is sabahan word which originally derived from the root word “ Tulah” , a BM word.. or

      shall  I say “kena tulah”?
